Bulk of Agricultural Exports Increase to 46%

Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries reports that the bulk of agricultural exports has increased by 46.47% compared to the same period in 2020. From January to September about 3,894,485 tons of 100 different agricultural goods had been exported, apart from milled and paddy rice, to different countries around the world, generating an estimated income of about US$2.7 billion.

While exports of corn, tobacco and mixed vegetables saw a decline, those of fresh chili, fresh banana, pomelos, mango products (fresh, jam, syrup), cashew nuts, soybeans, beans, and pepper increased sharply, by over 500%.

The Ministry says this shows that Cambodia’s agricultural exports remain on a solid growth path, thanks to the promotion of the Cambodia Good Agricultural Practices (CamGAP) standards and the use of QR codes to identify certified growers’ produce. This would prompt improvements in the quality and safety of Cambodian produce for the benefit of domestic and international consumers.
